Dr Pranab Baruah appointed as our new Head and Representative Director of ClientEarth Japan

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Pranab Baruah as our new Head and Representative Director of ClientEarth Japan!

Pranab joined us in November 2024 and has hit the ground running, overseeing our strategy and delivery of activities around corporate climate governance, energy regulations, sustainable finance and capacity building.

With over a decade of experience in Japan, Pranab brings more than 20 years of strategic and intellectual leadership experience globally in the climate, energy, and sustainability arena, spanning multilateral organizations, think tanks, and international firms.

Japan is critical to global emissions cuts and Japanese companies also play an outsized role in the regional and global energy transition through foreign policy, public and private fossil fuel finance and corporate climate lobbying.

Our broad plans in Japan are to engage Japanese corporations on their decarbonisation plans and strategies, help corporate directors ensure the proper discharge of fiduciary duties in relation to climate change, ensure integrity of transition finance in Japan and help in capacity building through initiatives such as judicial engagement and training of legal professionals.
